Useful before you ask anyone for a price
Costs & advice
Written to be genuinely useful, and to avoid the two things that make cost content worthless: made-up prices and vague reassurance.
A note on prices
There is no price table on this site. Not because we are being coy, but because we do not yet have enough genuine local job data to publish one, and copying a national marketplace's figures and presenting them as Shropshire evidence would be dishonest.
When ranges do appear here, they will carry the date they were checked, the assumptions behind them, whether VAT is included, and where the numbers came from. Until then, the guides below explain what moves a price, which is more useful than a figure you cannot rely on anyway.
The guides
- What actually drives a plastering quote in Shropshire Every variable that changes the price, and an honest explanation of why there is no "from £X per room" figure on this site.
- How long does new plaster take to dry? Why there is no universal number, what actually affects it, how to tell when it is ready, and the mistakes that cost people a repaint.
- Can you plaster over a textured ceiling? The three realistic routes, why overboarding often wins, and the asbestos caution that has to come first.
- Skimming or replastering — which do I need? How to tell whether your wall can take a skim, including a test you can do yourself in about ten seconds.
- How to prepare a room for a plasterer A checklist worth going through before the day, and the questions to ask about protection and clean-up.
